TEACHING PRACTICE: WEEK 7
Teaching Practice – Week 7
This week marked yet another fulfilling phase of my teaching practice journey. Each day came with new experiences, responsibilities, and small yet meaningful interactions with students and teachers that made me grow as a teacher-in-training.
Day 31 – Wednesday, 17 September 2025
The day began as usual—I reached school on time, signed the register, and prepared for my lessons. I handled classes during the 2nd and 6th periods, continuing the chapter “Talking of Science” using ICT. The visuals made the concepts more interesting, and I could see how effectively they captured the students’ attention. Their curiosity and engagement made the class truly lively.
After lunch, I helped with the Math Quiz, assisting in coordination and managing the students in the hall. The event added a refreshing change of pace. During free periods, I focused on completing pending work and preparing lesson plans for the upcoming sessions.
Day 32 – Monday, 22 September 2025
The new week started smoothly. I had my materials ready and felt more confident about handling the day. During the 6th period, I continued “Talking of Science” using ICT. Students were attentive and enthusiastic—responding eagerly, copying glossaries, and actively taking part in the activities. During the lunch break, I helped with lunch duty and later assisted teachers in conducting the Social Science Quiz. The teamwork and collaboration during such events gave me valuable insights into managing co-curricular activities effectively.
Day 33 – Tuesday, 23 September 2025
I started the day by organizing my materials and checking the duties assigned. I had classes during the 4th and 6th periods—both conducted with ICT support. The sessions were engaging, and I completed “Talking of Science” by the 4th period. During the 6th period, I introduced the new story “Engine Trouble” by R. K. Narayan, which instantly sparked curiosity among students. Their active participation, thoughtful answers, and excitement to explore a new story made the sessions enjoyable. In my free time, I focused on updating my records and preparing for upcoming lessons.
Day 34 – Wednesday, 24 September 2025
I arrived at school on time, ready to continue "Engine Trouble". Using ICT helped in visualizing R. K. Narayan’s narrative style, and students seemed to connect deeply with the story’s humor and simplicity. They listened carefully, noted down glossaries, and actively participated in group discussions. Sports events were also happening throughout the day, creating a cheerful atmosphere. I helped with lunch duty and maintained discipline in classes as per teachers’ instructions. It was a well-balanced day filled with both academic and extracurricular engagement.
Day 35 – Thursday, 25 September 2025
The morning began with something different—helping the cook cut vegetables for the noon meal. It was a simple but heartwarming experience that reminded me how schools are built on teamwork and community. Later, during the 4th and 6th periods, I continued teaching “Engine Trouble”. Students were lively and enthusiastic, engaging actively with the visuals and group tasks. To keep them refreshed, I gave short breaks between activities, which helped maintain their energy and focus. The day ended with me completing my lesson plans and reflecting on how much I had grown more confident and comfortable in my teaching role.
Week 7 was a blend of learning, teamwork, and creativity. From handling quizzes and lunch duties to using ICT in lessons and managing classroom discipline, each experience contributed to shaping me as a better educator. What stood out the most was seeing how simple methods—like visuals, questions, or short breaks—could make a big difference in student engagement.
Teaching practice continues to be a journey of self-discovery, and with every passing week, I feel more connected to the classroom, the students, and the beautiful process of teaching itself.
