Community Living Camp – Day 2
The second day of our Community Living Camp at St. Xavier’s Vidyanikethan, Pathanapuram began with renewed energy and cheerful faces. The cool morning breeze and the soothing sounds of chirping birds created a refreshing and peaceful start to the day.
Our team was also assigned the cleaning duty, which we carried out responsibly with dedication. Sweeping, arranging, and tidying the camp centre gave us a sense of responsibility and pride. The experience reminded us that cleanliness is not merely a task but an attitude—an important value in community life.
Morning Yoga and Breakfast
The day commenced at 6:30 a.m. with a yoga session that helped energize both mind and body. Under the calm guidance of the instructors, we practised stretching and relaxation, embracing the serenity of the morning. The session left us energised and ready for the day ahead. Following yoga, a hearty breakfast was served. The dining hall echoed with laughter and lively conversations as everyone shared reflections on the previous day’s experiences.
At 10:00 a.m., all camp members gathered for a special movie screening of Ravanaprabhu. The hall was filled with excitement as the film began, and soon everyone was deeply engaged in the story. Beyond entertainment, the movie conveyed subtle messages about values, courage, and relationships, making it a meaningful viewing experience.
Soon after, it was lunch time, and the meal was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The shared dining experience further strengthened the sense of togetherness among the participants.
Afternoon Session: Lecture on Inclusive Teaching
At 2:00 p.m., we attended an insightful lecture titled “Inclusive Teaching: Supporting Students with Diverse Needs,” led by Shri Abhiraj. The session highlighted the importance of inclusion in education and helped us understand the varied needs of learners. We learned about effective teaching strategies for diverse classrooms and the significance of empathy, adaptability, and compassion in the teaching profession. The session inspired us to become teachers who value and support every child.
Evening Cultural Events
The evening, beginning at 6:00 p.m., was filled with joy and excitement as B.Ed students presented a variety of cultural programmes. The stage came alive with songs, dances, skits, and humorous performances. The creativity, confidence, and enthusiasm displayed by the performers made the evening truly memorable.
Night Reflection: Camp Parliament
At 10:00 p.m., the Camp Parliament was convened, providing a platform for participants to share their reflections on the day’s activities. Students expressed their learnings, appreciated the efforts of different teams, and offered constructive suggestions for improvement. The session reflected strong teamwork, openness, and collective responsibility. By 11:00 p.m., after a long yet fulfilling day, the lights were turned off, marking the end of another enriching day at camp.
Overall, Day 2 was a perfect blend of relaxation, learning, and celebration. From the calming yoga session to the inspiring lecture and the joyful cultural evening, every moment added colour to our camp experience. Personally, contributing through service reminded me that even small acts can create big smiles and strengthen bonds. As we drifted off to sleep, we carried with us a sense of unity, joy, and purpose, ready to embrace another exciting day at the camp.
