Community Living Camp – Day 3
The third day of our Community Living Camp at St. Xavier’s Vidyanikethan, Pathanapuram began with renewed excitement and enthusiasm. By this time, the true spirit of the camp had completely taken over, and everyone woke up eager to discover what the day had in store.
On this day, our team was entrusted with the reception duty, which we carried out with pride and teamwork. We decorated the hall, arranged everything neatly, and welcomed guests and participants with warm smiles. This responsibility taught us the value of coordination, hospitality, and collective effort—an essential aspect of community living.
Zumba with Aswathy
The morning began on a high note with an energetic Zumba session led by Aswathy. With lively music and infectious enthusiasm, the session turned into a joyful celebration of movement and fitness. Laughter, rhythm, and cheerful energy filled the ground as everyone danced freely. After this refreshing start, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast together, preparing ourselves for the day ahead.
Morning Session: Legal Literacy for Educators
At 10:00 a.m., we attended an enlightening session titled “Legal Literacy for Educators: Navigating Child Safety, Rights, and Professional Conduct,” led by Adv. Lekshmi Priya. The session focused on the legal responsibilities of teachers, child protection laws, and ethical professionalism in education. The interactive discussion cleared many of our doubts and deepened our understanding of our roles as future educators.
Afternoon Visit: Gandhi Bhavan
After lunch, we embarked on a visit to Gandhi Bhavan, travelling by KSRTC bus and auto-rickshaws. The journey was filled with songs, laughter, and excitement. However, upon reaching Gandhi Bhavan, the atmosphere became deeply emotional and reflective.
Interacting with the residents and listening to their life stories was a heart-touching experience. It helped us realise the importance of compassion, care, and human connection. The visit truly reflected the essence of community service—offering love, respect, and attention to those who need it most. As we returned to the camp centre, a quiet sense of gratitude and empathy lingered in everyone’s hearts.
Evening Session: Echoes of Experience
At 6:00 p.m., we gathered for an inspiring session titled “Echoes of Experience,” delivered by Shri Kishore, National Teachers Award Winner – 2025. His words left a lasting impression on all of us. Through personal stories and reflections, he reminded us that teaching is not just a profession but a calling that shapes lives beyond the classroom. The session deeply motivated us and strengthened our commitment to the teaching profession.
Camp Parliament
After dinner, at 9:00 p.m., the Camp Parliament was held. Students shared reflections on the day’s experiences—from the joy of Zumba to the insights gained from the legal literacy session and the emotional impact of the Gandhi Bhavan visit. Constructive feedback and thoughtful suggestions enriched the discussion. By 11:00 p.m., the lights were switched off, marking the end of a truly meaningful and thought-provoking day.
Day 3 was a powerful blend of energy, emotion, learning, and inspiration. From dancing freely in the morning to gaining legal awareness and experiencing the depth of community service, every moment added value to our understanding of shared living. The words of Kishore Sir continued to echo in our minds as we drifted to sleep, reminding us that teaching is not merely a career but a lifelong mission to inspire and transform lives.
