Community Living Camp – Day 5
The fifth and final day of our Community Living Camp at St. Xavier’s Vidyanikethan, Pathanapuram was the most eagerly awaited one—the trip day. Excitement filled the air as we packed our bags, ready to explore new places, learn beyond classrooms, and create memories that would last a lifetime.
The day began early at 5:30 a.m. as we boarded the bus amidst songs, laughter, and sleepy smiles. The cool morning breeze and the cheerful faces of friends made the journey special right from the start. The road ahead symbolised the many experiences waiting to unfold.
Thirumalai Kovil, Tenkasi
Our first destination was the serene Thirumalai Kovil at Tenkasi, nestled amidst nature. Standing gracefully on a hill, the temple offered a breathtaking view of the surrounding landscape. The peaceful atmosphere filled us with calm and positivity, allowing us to reflect on the harmony between nature and spirituality. It was a refreshing beginning after the busy days of camp activities.
Courtallam Waterfalls
Next, we proceeded to Courtallam, famous for its majestic waterfalls. The sound of rushing water and the cool mist instantly lifted everyone’s spirits. Watching the water cascade down the rocks was truly mesmerising. Laughter, photographs, and joyful conversations made this stop one of the most memorable moments of the trip.
Palaruvi Waterfalls
Our journey continued to Palaruvi, another enchanting waterfall surrounded by lush greenery. True to its name, which means “stream of milk,” the white water flowing gracefully down the rocks was a stunning sight. We spent joyful moments together, enjoying nature, clicking pictures, and creating memories to cherish forever.
Thenmala: Learning with Social Responsibility
The final destination of the day was Thenmala, known for its eco-tourism and natural beauty. This visit was particularly meaningful, as it combined exploration with social responsibility. As part of our community awareness initiative, we distributed pamphlets on Amoebic Meningoencephalitis, creating awareness about this rare yet serious disease. It was a proud and purposeful experience, reminding us that even small efforts can make a meaningful impact on society.
By 5:30 p.m., we began our return journey to the camp centre were we concluded the the community camp accordingly. Though physically tired, our hearts were full of joy, gratitude, and satisfaction. The bus echoed with songs, laughter, jokes, and shared reflections, making it feel like a family returning home after an unforgettable adventure.
Day 5 was more than just a trip—it was the perfect conclusion to our Community Living Camp, blending fun, learning, nature, spirituality, and service. From the calm of temples to the power of waterfalls and from joyful journeys to meaningful awareness activities, every moment carried a lesson.
As the sun set on our final day, we realised that the camp was not merely an event but a transformative experience. It taught us the true essence of togetherness, compassion, and shared responsibility. The memories we created will forever remain close to our hearts, reminding us that learning happens not only within classrooms but also through every shared smile, helping hand, and journey taken together.
